In spite of the fact that there are no compelling reasons to oppose Tip Credit legislation, a local entity representing 10 or 12

of Minnesota’s 10,000 restaurants (or about “1/10 of 1 percent” of all Minnesota restaurants) is the primary voice behind

opposing tip credit.  This entity opposes Tip Credit to the detriment of the lowest paid hourly workers (the non-tipped employees)

in the full service restaurant industry, including their own members that are non-tipped employees.  It is unclear why this entity

continually chooses to seek questionable benefits for their highest earning members at the expense of their lower paid members.
